Make a Side Bar Table

I found a beat up square coffee table at the curb. Well it was very much like this one. this one has a different style leg, as you can see. The pic of the original got deleted somehow, most likely to my lack of computer skills. This pic will work for the practical idea of the table being short and squareish.

Took the legs off the back side and put them together with a wooden dowel for the height on the front of the table.
Cut the table in half and hit it with a coat of grey primer paint.
Legs put together end to end. I will wrap a few lengths of rope around them for décor.
Attached to the wall with some angles or a French cleat and you are all set and ready for some picture frames.

Industrial jewelry holder

A fun project, parts collected from resale store. To make a funky industrial Jewelry holder.
Two leaf sconces work well to hold rings and dangle earrings.
The earrings dress it up with color and will hold a lot more. Sconce sits atop a couple of table legs.
The table legs help to hold the weight of this large metal A/C vent that will hold many items like bracelets, necklace and more dangle earrings.
Here it sits on our painted dresser in the new walk in closet. Ready to pick out the right color earrings to go with my outfit for the day.

closet makeover

Pink and blue laundry room  soon to be walkin closet.
Pink and blue was a favorite when the kids were smaller.
grown up now we are going with a sage green.
Paint all done, ceiling white done as well.
New rods and shelves put into place. The brackets are the only thing I bought new.
Rods, shelves, bifold doors, rug and peel and stick tile all picked up at resale store for a fraction of the cost.
One set of bifold doors cover the old walk through from the hallway into the laundry room.
I bought a stud finder but, the old tap the wall and listen for the sound to change ends up being the best way.
The shelves are solid bifold doors. Painted with a cream paint.

grab an old dresser and breath new life into it.

This was an old dresser given to me, while it is old it is not an antique. The top was some sort of veneer. first we cut off the legs to make it short to go into a closet.
Then took off the handles to be spray painted a cream color. I went over the dresser with a palm sander and a scotch bright green pot scrubber. My favorite for sanding furniture to take off the shine so new paint will stick.
I bought a cheap electric paint sprayer from Harbor Freight (less than 20$). A Good latex interior wall paint. Mix the paint 3 parts paint 1 part Windex to thin the paint for the sprayer. Windex works so much better than plain water and the latex coats like a dream. Wear safety gear; Respirator& goggles. Or paint with a brush.
Put the handles back on, rub a little bar soap on the rails and it is like new ready for use.

Pallet Tree

Pallet tree.
I had a pallet left over from the Green House makeover.
I cut out my tree shape.

Painted wooden shapes.
The star is also cut out of pallet wood.
The wooden hearts came from a basket gift bag I won.

Here it is ready a month early.

Grapevine Wreath Home grown.

Harvested my grapevine today.

To make a wreath. Start with 5 or 6 canes. Mine are around 18' long.
one hand palm up one with palm down in a motion like you are going to tie a knot.
Make a circle and wrap the vine around pulling the vine through the center.

Keep adding more and more vines one or two at a time.
Tuck the ends in both the starting end and the trailing end.

The vine has to be dry. and the leaves removed so there
will be no mold in it.
I do my shaping on the same day I cut it down.
If the vine dries it will crack when
you try to wind it and weave it.

Clip any bulky ends that might be sticking out.
This wreath has become quite large.

Put in a flat cool dry place to dry.
For this size grapevine wreath, thick and heavy
you would pay hundreds.
this is from one plant, one season.
I love it.

Check back it will be decorated and hanging over the TV for Christmas.

breeze and a room with a view

We put an old piece of fence up behind out grill.
It was old and weathered so we added some white paint and distressed it.
Some old frames with the back and glass removed, we marked and cut the wood out of the fence and then screwed the frames over the holes.
And for those people who can't stand a crocked pic we put some up to drive them nuts.
