GO WITH NATURAL PEST CONTROL.

I LOOK FORWARD TO THE GREEN THUMB FEST. EVERY YEAR.

I believe pest control is better done by professionals so I go to "green thumb" to enlist the help of Lady Bugs.

II
Praying Mantis is another professional that work for me in my yard. You can hang the egg and let them hatch but it is much more fun to put it in a paper sack and watch for them. They are so cute and will crawl up your arms and onto the plants.

Best thing ever for citrus and the oranges are all the better for it.

What to do with all of that Basil we grew.

Well I put on many ways and Ideas of how to grow Basil. So now what to do with all of that Basil? Here is a great Idea.
You can de-hydrate it and crush it to put into nice glass containers for gifts but here is another idea.

BASIL SALT

1. wash and dry basil.
2. cut leaves into small pieces and stems.
3. add 1/2- 3/4 Cup Kosher or Sea Salt to your food processor and about 1 Cup of packed fresh basil.
4. pulse and stir. Keep a little coarse.
5. once desired consistency, pour the salt mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment.
6. Bake at 275 degrees for 30-40 min. to remove moisture.
7.  Let cool and then put into glass jars. keep cool and dry.

Great Planters for herbs

I want to share these great containers with you. Thea had this great idea of using milk cartons or orange juice cartons as planters instead of sending them to the dump. They are wonderful. Take your empty carton and cut the bottom off to the height you want your planter to be.

Then using chalkboard spray paint, in a well ventilated place spray them. you can do the inside or not. I prefer to not paint the inside of the container. Let dry and use chalk to label the outside of the container. This same idea could be used to separate toy on shelves in a child room or in a craft room or art supplies. the containers are quite sturdy. Feel free to let your mind wonder and see how these containers may fit into your life and keep them out of your local landfill.

You can make a planter out of almost any container. Wood, wicker, metal baskets get a simple waterproof container inside to keep your counters dry and easy to move from place to place. I see this again for art and craft supplies or even makeup. I just love this Idea don't you?

Lobster Trap

A friend of mine is helping with her Sons wedding. It will be at the beach and having a beach scene with shells, sand and surf. The happy couple wanted a lobster trap for the guest to drop cards in.
Online they are 90-125$ That is a large added cost to an already costly event. So I was asked to see if I could make one.
Going out into my shed that I call fabrication, where I store everything I find that I may use some day I have 24 ft of molding. The project took 48 ft of molding. so now I know when I see stray molding on the side of the road I will gather it up.

I can make these little gems and sell them online for half of the price with a declaimer, can not be used to catch Lobster or Crabs. This is for decoration only.

I had great fun doing this project.

flip flop pots

Flip Flop Pots
I love this it is fun. the pots are old and have scars and wear and I like look of them.
As the plants go they will flow out of the pots.

The top has an orchid in it because they are light. The top head piece came from a broken clay jar that had an ornamental top.
5$ worth of plants. I always buy my plants from the discount rack. You can get orchids for a dollar after they are done blooming. trust me they will bloom again.
